On January 31, 2025 the second Meeting for Strengthening the Cooperation Amongst Nikkei Farmers of Latin America was held – in hybrid format – in São Paulo, Brazil. It aimed at ensuring the smooth and effective implementation our Project of Interchange, Cooperation and Business Creation for Nikkei Farmers in Latin America, and to promote the interaction between Japan and nikkei farmers, and also amongst nikkei farmers. This year, 134 people from eight Latin American countries joined the event, having the first participant from Urugay. In addition to presentations by participants of the training programs in Japan, there was a general exchange of opinions on the future perspectives of the program and a discussion on the various challenges faced by nikkei farmers from Latin America.
On the next day, a site visit was conducted to Pindorama (Mogi das Cruzes city) near the state of São Paulo, where the group visited a Japanese-Brazilian farmer engaged in open-field and hydroponic vegetable cultivation, the Pindorama Japan-Brazil Association, a Japanese-Brazilian farmer engaged in rural tourism, and a fruit tourism farm. In total, 75 people, including members of related organizations, participated in the site visit.
